Log Notifiers 🚀

The Log Notifiers section of Data Mover is where you need to go to set notifications for any event that is registered in the Central Log and in the 🚀 Audit Log. Once configured, the Log Notifier will send a notification for every configured event to your preferred notification method.

In the Central log, you can set notifications for the STENG File Event Listener Engine and for the Ceman Filebox modules!

Follow these steps to configure the Log Notifier - the fields with the asterisk are mandatory:

  1. In Setup → Log notifiers, click the NEW button.

  2. In the New Log notifiers page, fill in the fields:

    1. Name (*): assign a name to the Log Notifier. A maximum of 128 characters are accepted.

    2. Description (optional): enter a description for the Log notifier you are configuring. A maximum of 255 characters are accepted.

    3. Status (optional): select the status of the activity. Possible options are:

      1. On: the configuration is saved and log entries are notified.

      2. Off: the configuration is saved but log entries are not notified.

    4. 🚀 Type: select the type of logs you want to be notified:

      1. Audit log: Audit logs will be published on a user-defined queue on Data Mover embedded Artemis broker. Audit log messages are read every 5 minutes.

      2. Central log: Central logs will be published on a user-defined queue on Data Mover embedded Artemis broker or sent by email to the configured email address.

🚀 By selecting the Audit log type, the following options will appear:

  1. Configuration filters:

    1. Audit operation (*): select which operation you want to be notified, choosing among create, modify, delete, login, logout, password change, server login, server logout, server change dir, server create dir, server rename dir, server delete dir, server upload file, server download file, server rename file, server delete file.

    2. Message code: select the message codes you want to monitor among those listed. For a complete list of all message codes of the Audit and their descriptions, see the page.

  2. Notification channel (*): select the Embedded Broker Notification Channel (or EBNC). This is a notification channel that transforms input notification events into output JSON JMS messages, publishing them on a user-defined queue on Data Mover embedded Artemis broker. EBNC is not and end-user feature, but rather an enabler feature that can be flexibly exploited in integration projects involving custom applications that need to interact with Data Mover .

By selecting the Central log type, the following options will appear:

  1. Configuration filters:

    1. Level (*): define which entries you want to be notified choosing ERROR or WARNING.

    2. Module (*): select the module you want to monitor. 🚀 Choose STENG File Event Listener Engine or Ceman Filebox.

    3. Message code: select the message codes you want to monitor among those listed. For a complete list of all message codes of the File Event Listener and their descriptions, see the next page. Note that all message codes including INFO level codes which cannot be selected in this filter are listed.

  2. Additional filters:

    1. Add filters: select the additional filters for your notification configuration: Cluster, Node, Contract, Job and Workflow.

    2. Value: define either a Wildcard or a Regex to create the filter. Note that you can delete additional filters by clicking on the red bin icon next to the value field.

  3. Notification channel (*): select the notification channel for your notifications choosing among System Email Notification Channel, Embedded Broker Notification Channel, or a user-defined channel.

All filters in this section work in an AND logic. An AND logic means that you will be notified of the events that meet all the criteria set in the filters.

When done, click the SAVE button.

The configuration will then appear in the home page listing existing Log notifiers.

Multiple activities can be Enabled or Disabled in one go simply checking the activity in the result list and then selecting Enable or Disable in the drop-down list. Checking the box on the left of the Modified column, all entries in the result list will be selected or deselected.

Clicking the 3-dots icon on the right of the row, the Enable or Disable, Edit and Delete options are available. In the Filters panel on the right, you can filter results by:

  • Name of the Log notifier

  • Status (enabled or disabled)

  • Type of log (audit log or central log)

  • Level of the notified entries

  • Module associated with the notified entries

  • Notification channel

At the top of the list of results, a toolbar is available. Learn how to use it .
