Who are the actors
In Data Mover, Actors are the participants in the data management process. They are classified as either data producers or data consumers, playing crucial roles in the overall flow.
Actors fall into two distinct categories: partners, which are businesses or organizations that generate or use data; and applications, which refer to the software platforms designed to receive, process, or analyze the data files.
Regardless of whether the actors are partners or applications, they consistently occupy specific positions within the workflow. Data producers, which may include various companies generating content or collecting data, initiate the workflow by sending data to Data Mover or by making them ready for collection by Data Mover. Data consumers are positioned at the endpoint of the flow. They are the final recipients of the data. This structured interaction between data producers and consumers is essential for ensuring effective data transfer within the system.
Actors need to be configured with specific settings, which include the users and groups that can access the system, the Virtual File System (VFS) the actor will access, the processes for handling received or sent data, and interactions with other actors when retrieving retrieving, sending, receiving or making files available for collection.
