Log

The Logs section within the SettingsConfigurations menu allows you to manage and configure log settings for troubleshooting and monitoring system performance.

To set up the logging preferences, complete the following fields:

  • Log: enable or disable logging functionality. Ensure that logging is enabled to collect useful diagnostic information.

  • Log level: select the desired level of log detail. The available options are:

    • Fatal: critical errors that cause program termination.

    • Error: issues that do not stop the program but may impact functionality.

    • Warn: potential problems that could lead to errors.

    • Info: general operational information about the system.

    • Debug: detailed information for debugging purposes.

    • Trace: highly detailed logs that provide complete information about program execution.

  • Log file size rotation: specify the maximum size of the log file. When the file reaches this limit, a new log file will be generated, and the previously active log file will be renamed to log.dms.1.

  • Number of backup log files: define the maximum number of backup log files to retain. This setting helps manage disk space by controlling the number of previous log files that are maintained.

  • Log types: this section is read-only and displays the available log types, which correspond to the values listed in the Logger Name column. These types can be selected when filtering log entries.

  • Log file rotation on boot: choose to enable or disable log file rotation at the start of the Data Mover Smart application. Activating this option will override the Log file size rotation setting. After enabling this feature, click the confirmation icon. Note that a restart of Data Mover Smart is required for this setting to take effect.
