Planning Data Shaper installation

Data Shaper is an optional Data One add-on that is installed on top of one or more Peers of a working STENG Cluster.

Data Shaper installation is driven by a specialized version of DOIM CLI (doim-datashaper.sh) that will:

  • Interactively collect user input for key installation parameters (doim-datashaper.sh rspfile-create)

  • Install the required Data Shaper executable deliverables and initial configuration on the selected STENG Peers (doim-datashaper.sh domain-install)

  • Install Data Shaper license (doim-datashaper.sh license-install)

  • Automatically extend the current DMCFG (dmcfg.yaml) file with Data Shaper additional parameters

Planning Data Shaper installation is very simple. The only two planning decisions to make are:

  • On which Peers of which STENG cluster Data Shaper must be installed:

    • Just one cluster can be selected

    • One or more Peers belonging to the designated cluster can be selected

    • Installing on multiple Peers gives extra availability and scalability for Data Shaper

  • When Data Shaper must be installed

    • During Data Shaper installation, Data One needs to be shutdown
