# Operational Resilience overview

**Operational Resilience** is an optional Panorama feature that requires a **dedicated license**. It is designed to enhance operational resilience and support business continuity across data integration processes.

It helps organizations maintain continuity of operations, even during system disruptions or outages, by providing a structured approach to documenting, monitoring, and managing critical integration flows.

It aligns with regulatory and industry frameworks such as DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act). In particular, it enables financial institutions to identify, document, monitor, and govern their critical integration flows, supporting their efforts to address three key DORA pillars: ICT Risk Management, Digital Operational Resilience Testing, and ICT Third-Party Risk Management.

The **Operational Resilience** consists of two key capabilities:

* [Business Continuity Playbook](/panorama-2.0.1/operational-resilience/business-continuity-playbook.md): it provides a structured framework for defining, maintaining, and exporting business continuity information for critical flows.

 Key capabilities include:

 * Selection and registration of critical integration flows
 * Enrichment with business and operational attributes
 * Validation of execution windows and operational dependencies
 * Definition of contingency procedures for disruption scenarios
 * Generation of structured, exportable playbook documentation
* [ICT Risk Monitoring](/panorama-2.0.1/operational-resilience/ict-risk-monitoring.md): it provides visibility and governance over critical integration flows.

 Key capabilities include:

 * Identification of unregistered integration flows, eliminating operational blind spots
 * Detection of unused flows and inactive configurations
 * Identification of inactive Actors and endpoints
 * Reduction of unnecessary ICT risk exposure

### Use cases

The Operational Resilience feature is illustrated through [practical scenarios](/panorama-2.0.1/operational-resilience/example-use-cases.md) that demonstrate how its capabilities are applied in real operational contexts.

* **Handle a non-critical reporting flow failure**: illustrates how a low-priority reporting flow can be restored through a manual contingency procedure defined within the Business Continuity Playbook.
* **Handle a critical payment transmission failure**: shows how a business-critical payment flow can be recovered through structured escalation procedures, fallback mechanisms, and guided manual execution.
* **Monitor and optimize the operational risk surface**: demonstrates how ICT Risk Monitoring can be used to identify inactive or unused integration components, optimize the integration landscape, and reduce operational risk exposure.
