# Manage users

**User creation does not occur in Panorama directly**. Users log in Panorama with their Data Watcher or Data One user account. 

By default, they are assigned the **Guest** default role upon entry and only the administrator can change this role by following these steps:

1. Go to **Setup** → **Users** tab and open the user’s profile card. 
2. In the **Edit user \<Name>** window, the username and password fields are already filled in.&#x20;

3. Click the + chip next to **Roles** at the bottom of the window and select the role for the user.\
   Roles must already exist. See the [Set roles](https://docs.primeur.com/panorama-1.2.6/setup-and-configuration/users-and-roles-setup/set-roles) page for details.
4. Optionally enter the user's email address. \
   If you want to use the option **“Notify me by email when the export is ready”** in **Export CSV**, this field must contain a valid email address. 5. Click **Save** to confirm.
