# Customizing File Manager externals

Several aspects of File Manager externals such as color patterns, buttons, error messages and metadata attributes can be modified by editing a file located in Data Mover Smart. 

To find the file, go to **Services** → **Servers** and click the HTTP or HTTPS server card where the File Manager is configured. 

Scroll down to the **Applications** section and click the <img src="/files/nlIcPFsUTlp1S2K2iiZ3" alt="" data-size="line"> icon to open the **Edit Configurations** window.
